And to the west of Bordeaux is the Côte d'Argent, France's "silver coast" with the longest sandy beaches and the highest dunes in Europe. Emilion and Cognac, and to the south there are such famous destinations as Eymet, La Réole, St-Macaire, Cadillac and of course the unique, wild Pyrenees. Fascination PérigordNear Gensac to the east is where the purple Périgord, the Bergeracois, begins. Traditionally, a distinction is made between the White Périgord (around Perigueux and the Isle Valley), the Green Périgord (Riberac, Nonton, Jumilhac) and the Black Périgord (east, Sarlat).
